March 27, 2012

Top tennis entertainer Mansour Bahrami has just been announced as the first big name confirmed to play at The Liverpool International Tennis Tournament 2012, being held at Calderstones Park from 21- 25 June
The French-Iranian Bahrami is one of the most popular figures on the senior circuit, and will play during Liverpool’s Legends Day on Sunday 24 June.
Famous for his range of trick shots and an unusual, fun-filled style of play, his reputation as tennis’ great entertainer has seen him become one of the most sought after name on senior tours.
Anders Borg, Tournament Director says, “Our Legends Day is always a great day with lots of entertainment, and we’re delighted that Mansour will be involved again this summer for our Olympic celebration year, and for what is shaping up to be a really fantastic line up.
“Calderstones Park is the only venue in the North West that Mansour Bahrami will play at, and this year will be his ninth consecutive year at the tournament. It’s a true testament to the quality of the Calderstones Park arena and the prestige of the tournament that we have been able to attract and retain such a popular figure.
“Be it playing whilst sitting down, or his infamous drop shot with so much backspin it bounces back over the net, Bahrami always puts on a spectacular performance and really wows the crowds.
” Mansour Bahrami adds, “I’m really looking forwards to returning to Liverpool again this year, and to being in the midst of the summer’s Olympic celebrations in this wonderful city.
“ Calderstones is a fantastic, intimate venue to play at, and there’s always a great crowd and a great atmosphere. In fact, Legends Day is one of my favourite spots on the circuit, it’s always really good fun to be part of.”
This year the tournament, now in its eleventh year, will be spread over six days, comprising two days for young people on June 19-20, followed by the four day main tournament event, which is expected to attract in the region of 25,000 spectators for a record-breaking Olympic year.
