Local university Liverpool Hope will be title sponsor of Liverpool International Tennis Tournament until 2016 . The event, which takes place during the third week of June and has been running since 2002 ,features tennis stars past and present with the hope of attracting more youngsters to the sport.
The University’s Director of Development, Ian McKenna explained, “The University’s decision to sponsor the event was an easy one as it is held in Calderstones Park, which is a stone’s throw from our main Hope Park campus. For us this was a fantastic opportunity to support a world-class event in our community.”
Tournament Director, Anders Borg added, “We are delighted to have such a prestigious institution onboard as title sponsor and are looking forward to working closely with Liverpool Hope University hopefully in years to come.”
Ian continued, “Every year the event is really popular with the business community in Liverpool and we are really looking forward to being part of the events and developing relationships with local organisations. We have some fantastic business services and facilities at the University, including the Hope Business Gateway, which offers business support, conference and events facilities and a wide range of Continuing Professional Development courses. Going forward we would really like to be seen as a key strategic partner within the local business community,” said Ian.
The Hope Business Gateway aims to provide advice and support to the local business community while establishing valuable links between the community and the University’s graduates and complementing Hope’s growing enterprise initiative, which has seen the second successful year of an internship programme.
The sponsorship also ties in with the range of sports and health science related undergraduate and postgraduate courses the University offers. The University aims to engage with prospective students from as young an age as possible, creating links with local schools and a wide network of partner organisations. Sponsoring the tournament also means current students will have the opportunity to experience international level tennis by attending the event.
