More than 350 players from 50 different nations have expressed an interest to take part in the inaugural Collector Norwegian Open which is a huge compliment to Oslo and the organisers Northern Vision. Tournament Director Anders Borg says, “this actually has a bigger reach than the World Championship in skiing in Oslo 2011, a lot of us were disappointed after Norway decided somehow not to go for the Olympics in 2022 but we have enough nations coming to Oslo next week to have a miniolympics at Oslo Tennis Arena.
The cream of Norwegian tennis will be able to fight for ranking points against some very stiff foreign competition. Melaine Stokke, Emma Flood, Victor Durasovic and Casper Ruud are all looking to impress on home ground. Casper Ruud says, “playing in front of your own crowd is just as important for tennis players as it is for football players, its a special experience to feel the spectators wanting you to win and hopefully we can have some good home wins.
