The ATP World Final top eight were announced last week. Four of the top eight ranked players in the world have played at The Liverpool International over the past five years.
World No. 1, Novak Djokovic, David Ferrer (No. 5), Robin Soderling (No. 6) and Mardy Fish (No. 8), have all made it into the top eight and the World Master’s Final at the O2 Arena in December.Tournament Director Anders Borg said: “It does not get better than this! The fact that these men chose our event to warm-up for Wimbledon and that they talk in the locker room about how good the event is, is testament to all our hard work over the years.”We are also delighted that WTA World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki favoured Liverpool for three years. This event provides a perfect platform for players and brands alike.”2012 will see an epidemic of sport in the UK with the Olympic Games in London, an event that puts Britain on the map for the next 12 months. It is important that this does not become a London centric event and that cities across the UK embrace ‘Olympics Fever’ and stage their own sporting events.”The liverpool International is an established event that can offer companies a taste of the Olympics in a local city at an affordable cost.”
